Macmillan Charity year end

Macmillan Cancer Support has been presented with a cheque for more than £134,000 by independent regional brewer Hall & Woodhouse.
Over the last 12 months enthusiastic team members at Hall & Woodhouse public houses have really put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’!

There have been coffee mornings, car washes, music festivals, quizzes, face painting, family fun days, fancy dress, marathon runners, abseilers, as well as a magic show and Hall & Woodhouse’s first Badger Beer Festival. After such a successful year, Hall & Woodhouse are proud to announce that they will be continuing their support for Macmillan for a second year into 2015.
Chrissie Wathen-Neal, Macmillan Cancer Support’s Fundraising Manager for Dorset, said: “We are thrilled to receive this magnificent sum which will make such a difference to so many people. Every penny of the money raised will be used to provide help and support to people living with cancer.
“I would like to say a big thank-you to Hall & Woodhouse, every single one of their houses that contributed to this total, and to all their directors, staff and guests.
“It has been an exciting year working as the charity partner of Hall & Woodhouse and I am delighted that our partnership is set to continue for a second year.”
Anthony Woodhouse, Managing Director, Hall & Woodhouse said:
“We’re delighted to have raised £134,000 for MacMillan.   It’s 6% up on the amount we raised last year for Naomi House children’s hospice which shows that our teams’ commitment to contributing to our communities is as strong as ever.   Macmillan is a charity that is vital in the lives of so many people (including several of our team).     I am immensely proud of our people for putting their dedicated fundraising alongside their day jobs of making great beer and offering warm hospitality.   We’re moving into our second year of supporting MacMillan, and with a pint of Badger in my hand I give you the toast ‘Good Health’.”
The new charity year has started well with the 5-a-side football tournament at the beginning of the month, and plans are already in place for the Macmillan ‘World Biggest Coffee Morning’ on the 26th September and the second annual Badger Beer Festival on the 27th September.
