There’s something about this time of year - the gentle transition from winter into spring, the smell of cut grass in the air, pops of yellow daffs at every turn – that lifts the spirits and puts the Badger in the mood for something light and refreshing at the end of a long hard day.

Luckily he doesn’t have to look far because there’s a new nettle beer, Billy Stinger, on the block that is herbal and fresh and grassier than a Dorset meadow in the crisp morning dew (and that, my friends, is very fresh indeed). It has a subtle spicy, tongue-tingling character (that’ll be the nettles) that lingers on the palate, so it’s great paired with, say, a fragrant Thai curry or Asian-style fishcakes, but also works just as well with a hearty roast lamb for Sunday lunch. Failing that, sipped slowly on a hay bale with the sun going down works a treat too.
