It's a tough job

t’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it. No, not sampling Badger ales, which of course is always a pleasure and never a chore, but sifting through lots of delicious-sounding entries to our pie and Badger ale recipe competition to come up with a shortlist.

I Here at Badger HQ we’ve been wading through venison, rabbit, chicken, pheasant, rabbit, garden peas even, and every permutation of pie topping under the sun (although rough puff and suet crust a la Great British Bake-Off seemed to be very much in evidence, which just goes to show that some things never go out of fashion), and after much deliberation – and not an inconsiderable amount of salivating -  we have whittled the entries down from 650 to 16 semi finalists before choosing eight to go into the final. Who will be the overall winner of the great Badger pie and ale contest 2014 in the final count? We couldn’t possibly say. It’s a pie and it contains ale, that’s all we’re saying.
