Exciting Television Debut For The Churchill Arms

The BBC's popular program Rip Off Britain featured the Hall & Woodhouse pub The Churchill Arms to help promote responsible drinking and better value drinks for designated drivers.

Tanya and her team at the Churchill Arms have always been supporters of responsible drinking and in November 2012 they launch their special offer ‘free soft drinks for designated drivers’. This innovative offer specifically rewards designated drivers who are giving their friends or family lifts to and from the pub.

To redeem the offer all you need to do is present your car keys to a member of the Churchill Arms team then they will exchange them for a designated drivers club token, with this token you are able to claim a free soft drink for every alcoholic round your friends buy. The drinks included in the offer are all from the soft drinks tap e.g. coke, lemonade, diet coke, soda as well as tea and coffee. A pint of these soft drinks now rival the price of the average pint so, not only is being a designated driver sometimes tedious it can be rather expensive as well.

After hearing about the fantastic work Tanya was doing to promote responsible drinking we were not at all surprised that her drinks offer had been picked up by the BBC. The team at Rip Off Britain feature The Churchill Arms in their campaign to achieve more reasonable soft drink prices for designated drivers.

I spoke to Tanya the landlady about her exciting TV debut and she said “the filming was manic, I was in the kitchen all evening and they only had one evening to shoot the entire feature, but all in all it was great fun-the locals got involved (only making the cutting room floor) and it was an exciting experience for everyone at the pub”

Tanya has received terrific feedback since the TV appearance and hopes other pubs will pioneer rewarding responsible drinking and designated drivers.
