Hall & Woodhouse’s Business Partners at the Royal Oak in Over Stratton, Jill and Chris Leaver, had the idea back in 2006 of setting up a charity bookcase. To date the bookcase has raised more than £5,000 for charity. Starting out with one bookcase and several boxes of books kindly donated by Ilminster Lions, two more cases have been added, plus a shelf dedicated to hardbacks.

Somerset Sight, The Labrador Rescue Trust, Ilminster Lions and the Annual Poppy Appeal have benefited from the money raised from the Royal Oak, their customers and readers.
