07 August 2007 - HALL & WOODHOUSE BRINGS A FLAVOUR OF DORSET TO THE GBBF

Hall & Woodhouse is bringing a flavour of rural Dorset to this week's Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court.

The Badger stand will feature a typical Dorset scene, complete with a thatched cottage pub; dry stone walled seating area; a replica of the Cerne Abbas Giant; a traditional red telephone box (with a hotline to Mrs Badger); and Buttercup the cow.

The Badger Bar will also be trialling our brand new beer, Pickled Partridge, as well as serving three of Hall & Woodhouse’s finest ales: Badger First Gold, Tanglefoot, and our latest seasonal cask ale, Fursty Ferret.

Pickled Partridge

Pickled Partridge is a full-flavoured 4.5% ABV winter ale, with roasted malt character and powerful hop aromas. Everyone who completes a feedback form will be entered into a draw to win a Badger T-shirt on the hour every hour.

Badger First Gold

Badger First Gold is a classic golden brown ale, brewed using First Gold single English hops – a cross-pollination of WGV (Whitbread Goldings Variety) with a dwarf male.

With 4.0% ABV, this session ale has a pronounced floral hop aroma tempered with an underlying roasted malt character. The rich citrus fruitiness of orange zest and dried apricots balances with the hop and malt notes to give a clean, fresh and slightly spicy flavour.

Voted World Champion Ale and awarded two Gold medals at the 2005 Brewing Industry International Awards, First Gold has also been a runaway success in bottles.

Tanglefoot

Tanglefoot is Badger’s flagship ale. This legendary and award-winning beer is 'dry hopped,' with Hops added to the beer as it’s racked into cask. This delivers a distinctive fresh hop character and aroma that develops in the pub cellar. Increasing the Crystal malt to develop both colour and flavour refines Tanglefoot’s maltiness and the ABV is 4.9% giving it a fine, sessionable strength.

Fursty Ferret

Fursty Ferret a characterful, crisp ale that has proved a huge success since it was introduced in 2003. With 4.4% ABV, Ferret is lightly spicy in character, with zesty citrus notes, a malty palate and hoppy aroma.
