30 August 2007 - CLEAN SWEEP FOR HALL & WOODHOUSE AT THE DORSET FOOD & DRINK AWARDS
Hall & Woodhouse enjoyed a unique clean sweep at last night's Dorset Food & Drinks Awards presentation ceremony in Dorchester.
Organised by Dorset magazine, the Dorset Food & Drink Awards are designed to celebrate and promote excellence and to recognise the achievements of all local food and drink producers in the county.
Presented at a gala dinner in The Members' Pavilion at the Dorset County Showground, Hall & Woodhouse triumphed in all four categories in which the company had been nominated:
Best Drinks Producer of the Year Best Dining Pub of the Year (for The Royal Oak at Cerne Abbas) Best Locals' Pub of the Year (for The Crown at Marnhall) Best Pub Chef of the Year (for Darran Ridley at The Royal Oak at Cerne Abbas)
The evening included a grand buffet dinner featuring dishes by local producers, followed by a dessert of Dorset Apple Cake (winner of last year's Hall & Woodhouse-sponsored competition to find Dorset's 'National Dish') matched with Hall & Woodhouse's very own Blandford Fly – a refreshing premium ale with spicy ginger overtones.
Accepting the award for Best Drinks Producer, Hall & Woodhouse Brands Marketing Manager Rick Payne commented: 'We're delighted to have won awards in each of the four categories that we were nominated. This success is due to the hard work of our brewery and pub staff in helping Hall & Woodhouse develop people, pubs and beers that we can all be proud of.”
