28 April 2008 - FURSTY FERRET NOW FASTEST GROWING MAJOR BOTTLED ALE BRAND IN UK SUPERMARKETS

Just in time to celebrate this year's National Ferret Day on Monday 5 May, market research has revealed that Hall & Woodhouse’s Fursty Ferret is now the fastest growing major bottled ale brand in UK supermarkets – with a 65% year-on-year increase in volume.

This coincides with the launch of a redesigned bottle label for Fursty Ferret, which now carries the Badger logo; bringing Ferret into the successful family of Badger Ales family for the first time.

A 4.4% ABV tawny amber ale with a sweet nutty palate and a hoppy aroma with hints of Seville oranges, Fursty Ferret was named in honour of the inquisitive local ferrets that frequented the back door of the Gribble Inn on a mission to sample the pub’s own reputed brew.

The Badger brand has doubled by volume since 2000, and Hall & Woodhouse is now the leading regional brewer of bottled ales, with four of the top 15 brands in supermarkets and nearly 10% national market share.

National Ferret Day on Monday 5 May, organised by FERT (the Ferret Education & Research Trust), aims to raise public awareness of ferrets, which are rapidly growing in popularity as pets whilst still retaining their status as working animals.

FERT is calling upon all ferret welfare and rescue centres around the UK to open their doors to the public or host an event to allow everyone to see these fantastic animals for what they really are; intelligent and fun loving pets who crave interaction with humans.
