31 July 2008 - Badger climbs onwards and upwards
Hall & Woodhouse is celebrating new sales records for several of its Badger premium bottled ales this month, since the launch of its distinctive new bottles in June.
Fursty Ferret is the fastest growing top 50 ale brand in supermarkets, up 63% in volume year on year . Tanglefoot in bottles is now growing at over twice the rate of the bottled ale category as a whole, up 16% in volume year on year, versus the category which is up 7%. The rate of sale of the single bottle is also growing by 14% year on year in Supermarkets . River Cottage Stinger is the fastest growing top 50 ale brand in off licences, with a volume increase of over 4,400% in the last year .
“We are delighted with these recent results. Not only is there a sustained high rate of sale but we are also recruiting new consumers to the Badger brand; the number of consumers has increased by 15% since 2007. We are also very pleased to see such a confident and positive reaction to our new bottles. We invested in extensive consumer research to reach the final design of the new shape, new label, lighter-weight glass and embossing so that our new Badger bottle would meet the demand of loyal and new consumers and improve shelf presence,” said Rick Payne, Brands Marketing Manager at Hall & Woodhouse.
Badger’s Poacher’s Choice has also recently won ‘Highly Commended’ in the Quality Drink Awards 2008.
