Assistant Planner - Drinks

A development opportunity exists for an Assistant Planner.  This is a new role with the emphasis on thinking, but we will need you to roll up your sleeves and assist with the doing tasks that are required within the team too.  We are looking for a highly numerate and a creative thinker to provide great input into business process/solutions and reporting.  You will also need great attention to detail, be a great communicator and be happy to take on more responsibility if required.  Knowledge of processes both internal and external and the ability to build excellent working relationships are vital for this role. 


To collate and evaluate demand forecasts sharing reports and shining a light on good/poor forecasts to help improve our performance in this area. (Improved accuracy at the front end of the planning function will save time and energy later in the process).  From this, you will network across the business to develop well thought through plans that are timely and accurate and enable the business to deploy labour resources to produce our requirements in an efficient manner.  It is expected that you will assist with the development of ERP3, where we will look to include planning and procurement as part of this next phase.


  • Assume responsibility for the collation of demand forecasts and build on the JBP reporting tool capability.

  • Work closely with the sales team review forecasts, share this detail and shine a light on accuracy or lack thereof. .

  • Provide plans that enable our schedulers to implement our plans in the short-terms and to assist them will material planning.

  • Work across the brewing and logistics teams to create longer-terms plans that schedulers can expedite.

  • Assume responsibility for building reports through the company reporting tools and share performance as directed. This will be particularly important to our brand agency partners.

  • Build KPI reports to aid the planning and procurement team. Forecast accuracy, Stock levels, Customer service are key measures.

  • Attend weekly planning meetings sharing sales, stocks, demand plans.

  • Support the planning team to cover holidays for the schedulers.

  • Assume a key role in the development of ERP 3 planning and procurement process.



  • Assess, demand and review forecasts accuracy which must be shared across your portfolio and discuss the implications with Commercial Manager. 

  • Working closely with the Commercial Manager and the Financial Controller, you will develop our reporting capability and use this in conjunction with the sales team to improve our quality of forecasting both for demand planning and financial perspective.

  • Building reports and gaining a full understanding of our ERP capability and processes will be a key learning requirement as it is expected that this role will help improve and develop our activity and thinking in these areas.

  • You will propose future plans, particularly for Badger, that will aid the schedulers and help manage production requirements verses labour resources available. It is important to optimise labour within the brewing and packaging teams.

  • The relationship with planning team is also important as they will be scheduling production based on accurate and timely forecasts. Insight into this area achieving a high level customer service without building excess stock will be important.

  • You may work across the off trade team to support all aspects of planning. We have a number of areas that need to be supported particularly in the areas of sales, marketing (NPD) Item management.

  • Supporting day to day relationship with Cott for the external contract production of Rio at Bondgate (Cans) and Kegworth (PET) adopting our approved forecast and produces a supply plan that meets the needs of our customers while working within agreed parameters. Workings closely with the commercial manager seek to exploit the capabilities that Cott provide and improve our business model.

  • Supporting Timothy Taylor external contract production via TT/FR adopting our approved forecast and produces a supply plan that meets the needs of our customers while working within agreed parameters. In this instance we share detailed sales information by customer in order to provide a comprehensive summary of weekly sales you will need to gather this detail on a weekly basis and share insight.

  • Support POSM procurement for Badger/Rio marketing. Workings within agreed parameters ensure that we meet the needs of our marketing team, supporting them through the procurement process.

  • You will learn a number of existing process and procedures within our current ERP system and play a key role in the next stage of our core system upgrade ERP3. This will centre on production planning, scheduling, procurement and forecasting.
