How long have you been landlord of this pub?

I have been at The New Inn for five years, but have always worked in the pub trade. I’ve was a pub manager for 18 years.

What makes your pub special?

Our pub is brimming with history. It has a fantastic view of the famous Salisbury Cathedral from the garden and is also thought to be haunted. Guests often say they have seen an old lady in the lounge of the pub dressed in a Victorian black mourning dress with a black vale. Spooky!

How is your pub part of the local community?

Community is extremely important to us; we sponsor local sport teams as well as having our very own cricket team.  We also support local charities such as Help for Heroes and also sponsor local schools sport tours.

What events have you got coming up or have recently been a part of?

Christmas has been full of fun events, however we are currently preparing for an exciting refurbishment which is happening in February. So we’re looking forward to organising many local events after it is completed.

If you could recommend a perfect combination of Badger ale and meal for your visitors – what would you recommend?

At The New Inn we serve a Tanglefoot sauce to accompany our delicious BBQ ribs. This obviously goes hand in hand with a bottle of Tanglefoot ale!

How does your pub sum up the Hall & Woodhouse values?

Although it’s simple, kindness is the most important value to us, creating a friendly environment for families and our community.

What’s good to see and experience in your area after a visit to the pub?

We are extremely lucky to be located in an area which is so rich with history. Salisbury cathedral (which you can see from our garden) and the famous land mark Stonehenge which lies less than 10 miles away, are must visits when near the New Inn.

What kind of people do you have visiting your pub?

Our pub attracts lot of tourists because of its location but our local community also provides a loyal customer base.

What’s your favourite season of the year at the pub?

Summer is a lovely season because of our large beer garden but in the winter months we have four open log burning fires which give The New Inn a festive and cosy atmosphere.
