Hall & Woodhouse tackles local litter in aid of Founder’s Day

June 2022

More than 30 team members from Hall & Woodhouse’s (H&W) Brewery have taken to the streets of Blandford to complete the company’s annual community litter pick event, Founders Sweepers.

Team members across H&W’s Dorset-based managed pubs, including The Grasshopper in Poole, also followed suit as part of a county-wide litter picking event to collect as many bags of rubbish as possible in their local communities.

The annual event is held to celebrate H&W’s Founder’s Day, the anniversary of when the business was founded in 1777. The campaign is also backed by H&W’s managed pubs across the south, with the shared aim of improving local environment for residents and wildlife.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Taking to the streets each year for Founders Sweepers is something we are very passionate about, as it is one of the many ways that we give back to our local communities. We are dedicated to helping keep our communities clean and safe by doing our bit as a business, not only on Founder’s Day, but all year round.

“Since we started our annual litter pick over 13 years ago, we have gathered and disposed of more than 5,000 bags of rubbish which would have otherwise been left on our streets. It has fast become a much-loved tradition that we look forward to undertaking as a team.

“As a special thank you for taking part, the team enjoyed a delicious slice of chocolate cake and received a bottle of specially brewed Founder’s Day ale – Extra Strong Badger.”
