Hall & Woodhouse to open its doors to tackle loneliness this Christmas

December 2022

Independent family brewer, Hall & Woodhouse, is offering a complimentary three-course meal for locals who will be spending Christmas alone this year at select pubs across Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Hampshire, and Dorset.

The ‘On Your Own Table’ initiative promises to host a table for Christmas dinner for those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day, ensuring they are able to come together with other people in a similar situation to enjoy the festivities and some community spirit.

James Davies, General Manager at The Smuggler’s Inn, Dorset, said: “Giving back to the community is an integral and essential part of what makes the Hall & Woodhouse family so special. Christmas is a time of the year where people get together with loved ones to celebrate and reset. Unfortunately, for some, that’s more difficult and can cause a lot of grief and loneliness. We are honoured to provide that sense of togetherness and support during what can be a difficult time for many. Please do reach out to any of our participating pubs if you or someone you know might be lonely this Christmas.”

Places for Hall & Woodhouse’s ‘On Your Own Table’ initiative are secured on a first come, first serve basis, with waiting lists available in case of cancelation. Guests can request a seat for themselves or be nominated by another party.

The ‘On Your Own Table’ initiative will also be taking place at the following Hall & Woodhouse pubs across the south:

  • The Boathouse, Bath
  • Portishead, Bristol
  • The Smuggler’s Inn, Dorset
  • The Olive Branch, Dorset
  • The Talisman, Southampton
  • The Seven Stars, Hampshire
  • The Wichelstowe, Swindon
  • The Black Rabbit, West Sussex
  • De Havilland Arms, Hampshire
