H&W Bath refines hospitality offering to align with local consumer trends

August 2021

Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) Bath has undergone a significant ‘refresh’ to create a multi occasion pub for guests that sits at the heart of the city centre.

Regulars will notice that the pub now has a new look and feel, with the formal dining elements removed from the space to encourage guests to sit where they wish, for a more casual experience.

Gavin Maltman, General Manager of H&W Bath, said: “Over the past 18 months we have all been kept from our friends and family and now there is a great appetite for people to come together to celebrate with food, or to reconnect over a coffee. We wanted Hall & Woodhouse Bath to evolve into a space that continues to meet the needs of our community, so we have made some changes to the layout of the pub. There is now more focus on casual dining, meeting with friends for a coffee or after-work drinks.”

The pub’s well-loved roof terrace that offers 360-degree views of Bath, has been transformed into a space that is reminiscent of an English country cottage garden, with plenty of greenery and a potting shed to give a nod to the nearby countryside. This reinvigorated outdoor space has created a relaxing environment for people to enjoy a cocktail, while escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.

Future plans for H&W Bath include reworking the pub’s menu to reflect the new casual dining experience, with freshly baked pizzas and tasty brunches in the pipeline.

Gavin added: “Feedback has already been extremely positive from both our regulars and new guests that have joined us since our reopening. It is encouraging to see that our new layout has already encouraged local shoppers to stop for a quick coffee, and demand for business lunches is rising. Providing great hospitality remains at the core of what we do. It’s so rewarding to create these enhancements for the enjoyment of our guests for years to come.”

Originally built as an auction house in the 1960’s, H&W Bath is steeped with history. The pub is split into sections over three floors and is designed around the Woodhouse family and their interests and passions.
