29 Southgate, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1ES
The Fountain is one of the oldest public houses in the Roman cathedral city of Chichester, thought to have first opened its doors in 1798. With easy access to Goodwood Racecourse and Motor Circuit, along with the lovely South Downs countryside, it’s an ideal spot for exploring rural England.
This charming newly refurbished inn is full of interesting traditional features and was actually built against the Roman city wall, which is still visible from the restaurant area. It is also one of Chichester’s longest-standing live music venues, and with a spacious dining area, tasty traditional pub food, characterful open fires, a large outdoor courtyard and car parking, there really is something for everyone in this warm and welcoming local.
