Traditional Dorset village pub on the edge of the New Forest

Located in the Dorset town of Verwood, the Monmouth Ash joined the Hall & Woodhouse family in 1937 and is a perfect example of a traditional English town pub, serving traditional pub meals as well as award-winning draught and bottled Badger Beers.

Indeed, the pub’s name, unique in Britain, commemorates the 1685 capture of the Duke of Monmouth (Charles II’s illegitimate son) in Verwood, after his rebellion was defeated and his clothes were found under an Ash tree. Located close to Moors Valley Country Park, the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park and the New Forest, the Monmouth Ash is the perfect base for exploring the Dorset-Wiltshire border.
