A thatched Hampshire pub-restaurant on the outskirts of Basingstoke

Owned by the Earl of Portsmouth, this magnificent thatched pub holds its very own little piece of secret history. Whilst it may look 200 years old, it was actually built in 1997 and hidden under the floor is a time capsule featuring items from that year. This will be disinterred in 2022 as part of the pub’s 25th Anniversary celebrations.

Below its wonderful thatch lies a warm, traditional and cosy interior combining dining and more informal bar areas to make a pub for all occasions. But if relaxing in the summer sun is more your thing, you can enjoy its equally beautiful beer garden and enjoy a pint of Dorset’s finest Badger Beer, whilst soaking up the rays.
