2024 WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Hall & Woodhouse has awarded grants totalling £60,000 at two presentation evenings in January 2025 at the H&W Brewery in Blandford Forum and at The Black Rabbit at Arundel in January 2025. The grants were split between 40 community groups and organisations located within its trading area in the southeast and southwest of England.
The Community Chest has now awarded over £880,000 to 980 causes and this year’s funding is the largest donation the company has made through this initiative since it started in 2002.
£3,000 is the maximum amount that can be applied for and one organisation that was successful in securing this amount was Routes to Roots, a homelessness charity in Poole, Dorset. The grant will be used to provide cooked lunches which they produce five days week.
£2,500 was awarded to The Hive Community Centre which is run by local residents in Peasedown St John, Somerset and will support their youth work which operates after school 3 days a week.
In the southeast £2,500 was presented to Grandads Front Room, a community interest company whose fundraising supports communities in the Arun District and Chichester. The award will help to fund a warm space in the winter months and a People’s Pantry to provide food and personal hygiene items.
£2,500 was also awarded to Headroom Young People’s Charity in Aldershot. The charity provides specialist therapeutic services to young people living in North East Hampshire and the Surrey borders who are suffering poor mental health and the grant will be used for salary costs to provide therapeutic support sessions.
Mark Woodhouse, Family Director of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “We’re delighted to deliver a record-breaking Community Chest fund to support the multitude of voluntary organisations we have in the south.
“Our Community Chest Awards celebrate the amazing people doing fantastic things in our local areas and are a chance to thank and to give back to those who go above and beyond to help others. We are proud that the Community Chest is now in its 23rd year and have already committed to returning the awards for 2025, extending our support further with another grant fund.”
